From Chicago to Carolina

I'm a Chicagoan and lifetime midwesterner flying south to North Carolina for grad school. These are my adventures in southern living, working with a few hundred first-year college students, and hitting the books for a degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs.

This doesn’t look like a Chicago winter.

Time to break out the glittens for the first time.

What they said.

Just a cold, gray winter day in downtown Chicago, complete with a few snowflakes.

Every time I see icicles I can’t help but think of the “killer icicles” in “A Christmas Story.”

If you stand right next to the lake, you can see downtown Chicago on the horizon.

Now this is what winter is supposed to look like.

The ice patterns are pretty, but that can’t be good for the fountain.
